The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) courtesy visit to the Cross River State Governor Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, has revealed need to establish Driver Licence Centers in Obudu and Yakurr Local Government Areas.

The Governor while receiving the team, said his administration will continue to support and cooperate with security, encourage revenue generation and traffic management.

The Chief Press Secretary to Deputy Governor Fred Abua Esq. In a social media post made available to Truth Live News said his boss Rt Hon. Peter Odey represented Governor Otu at the event.

He said Governor Otu gave assurance to the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Bayelsa, River, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, ACM Henry Benamaisia that his request for logistics to establish Driver Licence Centers in Obudu and Yakurr LGAs would be looked into.

The visit took place in Government house Calabar where he said the Governor reminded Commander Benamaisia of the state government’s assistance to the corps in the past.

Abua said the Governor thereafter urged the FRSC to enhance the registration and re-validation process, especially in the areas of the image capturing segment to reduce inconvenience for motorists on the road.

Meanwhile, the Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, ACM Henry Benamaisia had appealed to the Governor for logistic support to establish Driver License Centers in Obudu and Ugep, respectively.

“The lack of Driver License Centers in these locations forces motorists to travel to nearby states for driving licenses,” Benamaisia observed.

Moreso, he explained that travelling to nearby places like Ebonyi and Benue to obtain driving licenses, does not help the state in revenue generation.

Also, the Deputy Governor’s Press Unit reported that the Commissioner for Information, Dr Erasmus Ekpang, Head of Personal Staff to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Chris Ojikpong, Executive Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Prince Edwin Okon, State Sector Commander of the Corps, State Coordinator and Special Marshalls attended the event.
