Pupils of Christ The King Primary School, Wellington Bassey Way, have lauded the Governor of Akwa Ibom state Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, for building new Government Model Primary School, Ewet Offot in Uyo.

On Monday morning, the elated pupils on resumption for the 2023/2024 Academic Session, Goodnews Ime and Solution Stanley Idang at the school who were sighted in a happy mood made their feeling known when the state Commissioner for Education Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, visited the school.

Mrs Etiebet said, her presence was to monitor and supervise the conveying and arrival of pupils from Christ The King Primary School to Government Model Primary School, Ewet Offot.

Punctual as always, Godnews Ime and Solution Stanley Idang said, they were happy because, their governor has given them a brand-new school where their teachers will teach them.

“We came to school in a bus today and I am happy,” they said “I wish to thank my governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno,for constructing this new school for us to school in.”

“I am going to study more so that I would make good results, since I am now in a new school. May God bless and give him the wisdom to lead us well,” they prayed.

Mrs. Etiebet’s account of her visit to the school explained the reason pupils from the two schools resumed on Monday, a week after their mates across the state had since resumed.

Other reason she said, apart from being jointly taught within the same school environment was because of the ongoing remodelling and upgrading construction work at the schools.

According to her, the pupils are to receive classes in the school pending completion of construction work at CKS, adding that contracts were recently awarded by the State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.

As to the time parents should pick up their children home after school, she said “Buses will always convey children in junior primary classes back to Christ The King Primary School gate from 12:30 in the afternoon, while parents whose children are in primary four (4) to Primary Six (6) are to pick up their children at the same location from 1:05pm. As the free buses conveying the pupils to school would always be available on or before 7:00 O’clock in the morning.

She used the occasion to particularly thank the village for donating items such as signboard, the Nigerian National flag, school band, school uniforms as well as statutory records, saying that the free and compulsory education operating in the State still in force.

The headteachers Mrs. Kene Bassey Udofia of the Christ The King Primary School, Uyo and Mrs. Angela Effiong Essien, of Government Model Primary School, Ewet Offot, also applauded the State Governor’s gesture in building and remodelling the two schools, pledging their readiness in ensuring that, academic is prioritized for the benefit of pupils.
