CALABAR: Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) have been called upon to step up their work. In the issues of metering, quality and supply within the Niger Delta region.
The Special Assistant to Governor Umo Bassey Eno, on Media and Convener of the meeting Dr Eneh John, made the call at a media chat on Saturday in Calabar, the Cross River state capital, Nigeria.
Speaking through Mr Oseagah Solomon an operator in the oil sector, John said he is confident that the oil sector would not become a pain rather a glory to us.
“The NMDPRA have offices in Rivers state,” he said “let’s ask them. I think they would guide us properly in the issue of metering.”
Moreover, the quality and control of fuel products which were much of a concern, he noted was still under NMDPRA.
While nodding to his confident and spoke to journalists in an interview he assured of a symbiotic relationship with NMDPRA.
“I also observed that at a time you would go to fuel station and you would hear some words like, “we don’t sell in gallon,” he told the journalists that for him that is a red flag.
“However, we also know that the measuring is not the size of the gallons but the quality and quantity, that is all matters,” Mr Solomon explained.
“Sometimes, we should know exactly the weight and the measurements of a gallon,” the SA insisted.
In his message, he noted that the government of the day is working so hard, to make sure the oil sector does not become a pain rather a glory to us.
Again, “We will get there,” Solomon concluded.
NMDPRA is responsible for the regulation of the midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria, including technical, operational, and commercial activities.
For instance, the Authority Regulate and monitor midstream and downstream operations in Nigeria.
Truth Live News gathered that the body also determine appropriate tariff methodology.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources (MPR) is the government body responsible for formulating and implementing policies that govern the Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
