In a significant stride towards enhancing public health infrastructure, Governor Godwin Obaseki has inaugurated the Edo State Integrated Public Health Emergency Operations Center.
The commissioning ceremony which took place today, 21st May, 2024, was led by the US Consul General, William B. Steven, from Lagos, Nigeria, marking a pivotal collaboration between Edo State and the United States in bolstering public health response capabilities.
The newly established center is designed to address a range of public health emergencies, including outbreaks of Lassa fever, meningitis, and other epidemics. Equipped with state-of-the-art surveillance technology, the facility aims to enhance the detection and management of infectious disease outbreaks.
It will significantly expedite contact tracing efforts, ensuring swift responses to potential health crises.
