Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced plans to establish tuition-free schools across the three senatorial zones of the state.

These schools will focus on providing skills that are currently in demand but lacking in the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, shared this information after a state executive council meeting in Umuahia.

He explained that the one-year residential program will offer training in various skills, including solar power assembly, POP designing, painting, masonry, and tiling.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will receive financial support to start their own businesses, aligning with the government’s goal of promoting self-sufficiency.

Kanu also announced the suspension of the monthly sanitation exercise due to the commissioning of a geometric power plant on Saturday, February 24. He urged residents to clean their surroundings on that day in preparation for the influx of visitors.

Additionally, the government has banned “One way traffic” across the state to enhance road safety and deter reckless driving practices. Driving against traffic will now be considered a serious offense, and a special task force will be established to enforce traffic regulations and crack down on violators.

The Commissioner emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding law and order, urging individuals to comply with traffic laws to avoid facing legal consequences.
