The Cross River State governor, Sen Bassey Edet Otu has promoted police escort officers attached to his office in Calabar.
The governor promoted them on Monday from the rank of Inspectors to Assistants Superintendent of Police II (ASP II)
The newly promoted officers whom he gave a charge to always ensure that the rights of citizens are respected and protected at all times were Oliver Muta’a, Audu Garba, Nadum Doodoo, Arit Ogidi, Atim Omini, Victor Effiong, Lawrence Sunday and Obeten Effiom.
“I have never doubted your ability to perform, i am not surprised that you have been promoted to your new ranks,” Otu said shortly after he decorated them that their promotion is a sign of dedication to duty and hard work.
He said “I commend you for this. I charged you to be humble in your elevation and always ensure to respect the rights of other citizens as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria.”
Governor Otu who believes that to whom much is given, much is expected said wearing a new rank has added more responsibilities to their daily duties.
On behalf of his colleagues, Oliver Muta’a who is the escort commander expressed satisfaction over the governor’s rare leadership ability.
He said his magnanimity shows that his government is truly for ‘People First’, while he promised that the newly promoted officers under his watch will always abide by the ethics of the profession as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Governor’s house press unit reports that the governor was assisted by Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Enoh, his Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar and other Top Security Aides, during the brief ceremony.
