Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State sparked widespread celebration as he announced a 50% reduction in tuition fees at the state university in response to the current hardships caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

The governor, emphasizing his commitment to quality education, made the decision public during a visit to Taraba State University.

A statement by his spokesperson, Emmanuel Bello, highlighted that the governor had already declared a state of emergency in the education sector.

The announcement brought immense joy to the university students, who believed that the fee reduction would significantly improve their lives.

Bello noted that many parents had expressed their difficulties in paying school fees due to the hardships resulting from the removal of the fuel subsidy.

The reduction in fees gave them renewed hope.

In addition to the fee reduction, Governor Kefas mentioned that efforts were underway to address the payment of pensions and retirement benefits.

He also emphasized the importance of promptly paying salaries and other entitlements to ensure the well-being of the state’s employees.
