Governor Obaseki Beefs Up Security in Edo State with 4,000 Police Personnel, 6,500 Vigilantes

Benin City, Edo state.

Governor Godwin Obaseki emphasized the purpose of the security briefing, stating, “We are having this security briefing to let the public know the measures that security agencies and Edo State Government are taking to secure lives and properties in Edo State.”

While responding to recent security challenges, Governor Obaseki affirmed, “Government can’t fold its hands and allow a breakdown of law and order in the State, appropriate actions will be taken, and we have resolved to deal with what happened last Saturday.”

With regards to the reaccreditation process for vigilante personnel, Governor Obaseki cautioned, “After the reaccreditation, anybody or group acting as vigilantes without being trained by the Edo State Government will be dealt with like criminals.”

Truth Live News gathered that Governor Obaseki encouraged citizens to utilize emergency numbers, stating, “Citizens are encouraged to call the security emergency numbers 112 or 739. These numbers should be called in any time of distress or security breaches in Edo State.”

Governor Obaseki while highlighting proactive measures, mentioned, “We are addressing issues ahead of time and want to inform the people that we now have a fully manned Command and Control Center as our security emergencies numbers are now active.”

Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, revealed plans for collaboration with the Inspector General of Police, saying, “Edo State Government, in collaboration with the Inspector General of Police, is bringing in about 4,000 policemen into the State to ensure peace and development.”

Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Oduyebo, Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, affirmed the commitment of his forces, stating, “Our men will continue to collaborate and support other sister security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the people.”
