Governor Otu Hands Over Affairs, Notifies Assembly Ahead Of Annual Leave

NIGERIA, CALABAR – Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has officially informed the State House of Assembly of his decision to embark on a three-week annual leave from March 11 to April 8, 2025.

In a statement issued on March 11, 2025, by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, it was disclosed that the Governor conveyed his decision in a letter dated March 10, 2025, addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem.

The letter, personally signed by Governor Otu, formally notified the legislature of his temporary absence from official duties.

He assured that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure the smooth running of government affairs during the period.

“In accordance with constitutional requirements, I am notifying the House of Assembly of my intention to proceed on annual leave,” the Governor stated. “I have put in place all necessary measures to ensure seamless governance in my absence.

The Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, will act on my behalf and make decisions as required.”

The Cross River State House of Assembly has officially received and acknowledged the Governor’s communication.
