Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has presented a proposed budget of N790 billion for 2025, focusing on critical areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security.
Speaking at the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Monday, the Governor described the budget as a strategic plan for sustainable development, despite financial challenges.
He explained that N553 billion has been allocated for capital projects, reflecting the administration’s commitment to improving roads, healthcare facilities, schools, and housing. The Governor emphasized that the budget aims to prioritize projects with lasting economic benefits for the people of Kaduna. Education received the largest allocation, aimed at building and rehabilitating schools, training teachers, and providing learning materials. The health sector will see significant investment in upgrading facilities, expanding access to mobile healthcare, and procuring essential equipment.
Governor Sani also highlighted the government’s focus on agriculture, with plans to support smallholder farmers, promote agro-processing, and enhance irrigation systems. Security remains a top priority, with investments in improving the capacity of state security agencies and community policing initiatives. Social welfare programs will continue to provide support for vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly.
Reflecting on achievements in 2024, the Governor noted significant progress in enhancing security, restoring peace in conflict-affected areas, and addressing the state’s housing deficit. He also mentioned attracting over $503 million in investments, including projects in agriculture and industrial development, while empowering thousands of small businesses and underserved women through various initiatives.
Governor Sani urged the House of Assembly to support the proposed budget, describing it as a bold commitment to transforming Kaduna into a state where every citizen can thrive. He reassured residents that his administration would remain focused on driving inclusive development and creating opportunities for all.
