The Kano chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday disclosed that it has asked its legal team to seek redress in court against the declaration of New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) governorship candidate, Abba Yusuf as and governor-elect.
The independent Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Yusuf winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.
APC’s spokesperson, Ahmed Aruwa alleged that the declaration the NNPP candidate contravenes the electoral law.
His words: “the Kano APC faults the results declared by INEC, which confirmed the candidate of the NNPP as the winner of the governorship polls.
“The declaration of the winner of the elections as announced by INEC contravenes the provisions of the laws regulating the overall conduct of the elections.”
Earlier, the APC governorship candidate Nasiru Gawuna had congratulated the governor-elect on his victory at the poll.
Aruwa accused INEC of acting in contrast to the provisions of the electoral rules by declaring Abba Gida Gida as he is fondly known as the governor-elect of the State”.
