Edokpolo Grammar School Old Students Association, has charged the newly sworn in Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (Uniben), Prof. Omoregie Edoba on administrative reforms in the institution in order to actualize the dreams of its forebears.

The group gave the task during a courtesy call on the new VC of the University of Benin by the group in Benin.

Speaking for the group, on what he titled “Reflections on the ‘Invisible’ Heroes of the Midwest Region: Archbishop, Dr. John Enoyogiere Edokpolo’s Unsung Contributions”, Edokpolo, said the person of Prof. Edoba, the Uniben VC, being a product of Edokpolo Grammar School, will be a shinning light by way of turning the fortune of the school around.

“However, today, we are proud and excited to celebrate a scion of the great Edokpolo Grammar School family, who has achieved yet another milestone in his illustrious career, through the exceedingly deserving appointment to the exalted position of the Vice Chancellor of the great University of Benin. Please join me to celebrate Professor Bright Edoba Omoregie SAN and many other things.

“For me, and my siblings of the Edokpolo family, today is Remembrance Day! Yes. Today, the enviable success of Professor Edoba Omoregie connects us to the memory of our dear father.

“A man who arguably got nothing from the society of his humble birth, but, by dint of vision, determination and courage gave the Midwest Region his best shot. From the agony of a primary school dropout, he metamorphosed to the legendary rubber lube merchant of his time.

“Further building iron rods manufacturing industries, estates, schools, and even a near crystalizing shot at a University in Okhoro community, Benin City .
He left 42 of us as surviving children , and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“As we celebrate my brother, a proud, thoroughbred Benin man, an accomplished legal luminary, and an astute academic; with an academic-DNA baptism of Prof. O. G. Oshodin, I can see in Prof. Bright Edoba Omoregie’s tenure, – the rebirth of a truly progressive citadel of learning.

“One, in which host community leaders are not relegated by the flimsy excuse of unending reforms.

Amb. Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo, said in the history of Uniben host community, leaders have been passionate about administrative reforms, because they believe that without reforms, the citadel of learning can fall prey to foreseen and unforeseen existential perfidy.

He noted that he has been a foremost advocate of administration reforms, and going forward, they will passionately rally around him (Edoba )in all ways necessary for him to succeed through his tenure.
