The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed its personnel for election monitoring in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states, with the primary goal of preventing electoral fraud and associated crimes.

Dele Oyewale, the head of media and publicity at the commission in a statement, emphasized that the operations aim to counteract various forms of voter inducement, including vote buying and selling, as well as manipulation of electoral processes not in line with the Electoral Act.

Similarly, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) has confirmed the deployment of its operatives to monitor the gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi.

According to the commission, the operatives have been positioned across the 56 local government areas and 649 wards in these three states where the elections are scheduled to occur and their key tasks include monitoring and preventing activities such as vote-buying and other electoral malpractices at polling units.

The ICPC’s Head of Special Duties Division, Mr. Alex Chukwura, urged collaboration with other agencies during this monitoring exercise, which was initiated in response to an invitation from INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to ensure free and fair electoral processes in the three states.
