Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, has surpassed the existing holder of the Guinness World Record. By accomplishing this, she is poised to break the record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” by reaching a remarkable duration of 87 hours and 50 minutes.

The renowned restaurateur commenced the competition on Thursday by igniting her cooker at 4 pm, and she surpassed the current world record holder on Monday morning.

If officially acknowledged by the Guinness World Record, she will surpass the previous record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who set the record in 2019 with an uninterrupted cooking duration of 87 hours and 45 minutes.

Baci’s ongoing cooking marathon is taking place at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State. Despite the rain, Nigerians, including numerous celebrities, have gathered to physically support the visibly exhausted chef.

On Monday morning, Baci reached the impressive milestone of four consecutive days of non-stop cooking.
