Armed assailants abducted a Nigerian Navy officer and two other individuals in a brazen attack along Mpape Road in the Mamman Vatsa area of the Federal Capital Territory on March 21, 2025. The incident, which unfolded around 7:45 p.m., has triggered a multi-agency search operation to rescue the victims.
Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama that four gunmen, firing indiscriminately, ambushed the victims as they returned home in their vehicle after visiting a relative, Blessing Akor, in Beggar Quarry, Mpape. “The armed men opened fire and seized the victims,” the sources recounted. The kidnapped individuals were identified as Lt. Cynthia Ako, a Nigerian Navy officer, Gold Alfred, a Bwari resident, and one other person whose identity remains unknown.
In response to the abduction, security forces have mobilized swiftly. The Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, alongside the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command, vigilantes, and local hunters, have launched a joint operation to comb the surrounding areas in hopes of locating the victims and apprehending the perpetrators.
The incident has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in the nation’s capital, prompting calls for intensified efforts to curb such attacks. Authorities have yet to release further details as the search continues.
