Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly killed a man, simply identified as Emmanuel Rufus while others where Kidnapped in the process in Edo state.
It was learnt that the incident happened on the Igarra-Ebilo road on Saturday , in Akoko-Edo Local Government of Edo State.
Source in the area, said the victim was travelling with two of his relations in the Mecedez Ben GLK when gunmen emerged from the bush and opened fire on him and whisk others into the bush.
But the Edo state police command said it was not kidnapping but a murder case.
The state command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the report from the divisional police officer in charge of Igara division, indicate that one Emmanuel Rufus was seen lying on the Igarra-Ebilo road in Akoko Edo local government of Edo state.
He said the police and local vigilante mobilize to the scene and met the victim with bullet wound in Mecedez Benz GLK 350 with registration number Ben 303 GM.
He said the corpse was later removed by the immediate family for burial.
According to him, investigation is ongoing and that effort is on to arrest the flee suspects.
