Gunmen have shot a middle aged man to death in Awoyemi village in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The middle aged man simply identified as Nafiu Afegbua was reportedly shot dead on Saturday October 5, 2024, night.
According a report, the said Afegbua was said to have been with his wife that night when he got a call from an unknown caller inviting him, and he immediately left the house to meet up with his caller.
The deceased’s wife was said to have made frantic efforts to stop her husband from leaving home, but all was proved abortive.
It was gathered that his wife, after waiting for a long time without hearing from him started calling his phone line which went repeatedly unanswered.
Worried, she reached out to neighbours and relations who launched a search for Afegbua the next morning (Sunday).
His lifeless body was discovered inside the bush close to where his motorbike was abandoned on a bush path.
A source close to the family hinted that the deceased’s remains have been deposited in the mortuary.
When contacted, the police confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing.
