Hamas has issued a warning, stating that it will execute an Israeli hostage if any new bombings occur in the Gaza Strip without prior warning, according to Sky news report.
This warning comes after militants from Hamas seized control of Be’eri, a southern Israeli community, resulting in the recovery of at least 100 bodies.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by stating that the country’s reaction to Saturday’s incursion has only just begun, and he emphasized that their actions would have long-lasting consequences for their enemies.
He reiterated his previous warning that any location where Hamas is based will be reduced to rubble, following the Israeli military’s announcement of hitting 1,000 targets inside Gaza.
Netanyahu also accused Palestinian gunmen of remaining in the country and being responsible for the deaths of restrained children. The Israeli embassy in London confirmed that the military has instructed Israelis to prepare for a three-day stay in bomb shelters and secure rooms.
They have also been advised to ensure a supply of food, water, and battery-operated devices in case of power outages.
Meanwhile, Israel has also ordered a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian territory governed by Hamas, leaving it with no food, electricity or fuel.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres later said he was “deeply distressed” by Israel’s decision to impose the siege.
The two days of violence between Israel and Hamas have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 900 Israelis and 687 Palestinians.
