Two people were killed and several others injured in a violent confrontation between Hausa and Fulani communities in Agufa Village, Miga Local Government Area of Jigawa State, on February 17 around 1:45 p.m.

Truth Live News learnt that the clash initially stemmed from accusations of mischief against some Fulani youths, escalating quickly from a dispute to a full-blown violent encounter. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel, present at the scene, were the first to respond before the situation deteriorated.

According to the Jigawa State Police Command, the skirmish saw both groups resorting to bows and arrows, leading to injuries among the Hausa members, including Mohammed Haruna (50), Umar Chiroma (30), Inusa Usman (40), and Garba Musa (27), who were all treated at Jahun General Hospital for arrow wounds.

The violence took a fatal turn for the Fulani community with Beti Shanu (27) and Inusa A. Isa (19) killed by gunfire, while Muhammed Isah (27) was also shot but is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The police statement highlighted that the NSCDC personnel reportedly fired the shots leading to the deaths among the Fulani.

In response, the police have mobilized tactical teams to Agufa Village to quell any further unrest. The command has also committed to working with community leaders and stakeholders to restore peace and prevent future incidents of this nature.

Residents are urged to stay calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations, as stated by the Jigawa State Police Command.
