Belgian football star Eden Hazard has opened up about the difficulties he faced during his time at Real Madrid.
Having spent four years at the Spanish club, Hazard struggled to meet the high expectations set for him.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Hazard admitted that the magnitude of the club was overwhelming.
“I’ve admired Zinedine Zidane since I was a child. The allure of the Bernabeu, the iconic white kit… it possesses a charm unlike any other. Real Madrid is truly special.”
“However, I felt that I didn’t quite fit in. The club has a certain swagger that doesn’t align with my personality. Our style of play also didn’t resonate with me compared to other clubs. But, it was my lifelong dream. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play here.”
“I wished I could have performed on my own terms and achieved success. It became evident that Real Madrid’s stature surpasses individual aspirations. It’s a challenge to thrive there. Perhaps I needed to dedicate more time to training. Additionally, I faced severe injuries at critical moments.”
