The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old Salamatu Danjuma for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during a heated argument over child custody.
According to SP Wakil Mohammed, spokesman for the Command, the incident occurred in Nadabo village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
The dispute arose over the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Initially, the couple had agreed to bring the child into their home, but the husband later changed his mind, leading to rising tension.
During the ensuing argument, Salamatu allegedly grabbed a knife from their bedroom and fatally stabbed her husband.
Responding to a distress call, detectives from Bununu Police Division rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to Cottage Hospital, Bununu, where he was confirmed dead.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discreet investigation, ensuring that appropriate legal actions will be taken.
Salamatu remains in custody as the command continues its probe into the case.
