Rochas Okorocha, the senator representing Imo West, has expressed his curiosity about the return of Senate President Ahmad Lawan to the upper legislative chamber after losing the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okorocha, who had also contested the APC primary but lost to President Bola Tinubu, sought Lawan’s guidance on the matter.

During the valedictory session of the ninth senate, Okorocha acknowledged Lawan’s political astuteness and expressed his interest in understanding how Lawan successfully maneuvered his way back to the senate while others, like himself, were left behind.

Lawan responded by stating that his return to the upper legislative chamber was not a complicated feat. He explained that after their defeat in the presidential race, his constituents expressed their desire for him to represent them again. This led to a legal journey, including court proceedings, wherein the party and stakeholders appealed on his behalf up to the Supreme Court.

Okorocha, intrigued by Lawan’s explanation, expressed his desire to learn from him in the future, using the metaphor “the more you look, the less you see.”

This exchange between Okorocha and Lawan has sparked discussions on social media. Some speculate that Okorocha may be trying to divert attention to Lawan’s situation in the hopes that Tinubu would take action against him.

Others view it as a clash between Lawan’s reconciliation with state stakeholders and Okorocha’s personal conflicts and long standing feud between him and his governor Hope Uzodinma.
