The economic reality has dawn on the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Ohogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, as they have constantly indulged themselves in hunger induced fast to keep themselves busy.
The coordinator of the camp, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho disclosed this while speaking with newsmen at the camp.
He said they barely eat a meal in a day due to the present economic hardship, therefore, have resulted to a regular fast in the camp.
“It is very challenging I tell you. We have been fasting three times every week. This last week, we just did our three days fasting.
“And this week, I just don’t want to push the children anymore. It is really tough. One bag of rice, you don’t even need to mention the amount. A Jerrycan of oil, just name it, everything is really tough.
“The children are just hoping, praying for the government, praying for every segment of the society so that everything can become alright. Actually, it has been tough”, Folorunsho said.
Folorunsho added that despite the present economic challenges facing the camp, the children still believed that the God who saw them through the era of COVID-19 pandemic, is still able to see them through this difficult times.
“All the children are happy, they are hoping that God who took us through the period of COVID-19 is still able to see us through.
“COVID was a very tough and challenging times where people can’t move and even when there was a little movement, everybody was concerned about who was coming , social distance and all that, we came through it.
“They believed that this same God will take them through this very situation that is indescribable”, Folorunsho said.
