In what seems to be joy turned into sorrow, a bride reportedly went blind after suffering serious injury on her eye when fight broke out during her wedding ceremony which held Kano state, northwest Nigeria.
The bride who was identified Khadija Abdullahi reportedly fainted after someone threw a stone at her eye during a fight at her weddings.
Trouble started when a DJ was called to play music during an after-party in front of the bride’s house at Kwalajawa area of Kano city not knowing that the dance will end on a sour note.
Truth Live News gathered that the groom Mr. Hamza Bala who narrated the incident to BBC demanded that the perpetrators must face the full wrath of the law for making his wife go blind.
He said, “My bride and her people all women organised traditional DJ music as part of our wedding celebration but the party was invaded by some so called ‘vigilante’ officers.”
“I was called and told that my bride fainted and is in the hospital. I rushed there to see what happened but by the time I reached there, I heard her crying, I was told she was hit with stone on her eye.”
“After she regained consciousness, we were referred to an eye specialist because her eye was covered with bandage.”
According to the groom, making the assailants face the wrath of the law will serve as deterrent to others.
He added that, two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
“It was only my wife who got injured during the fight. That’s how a day that is supposed to be a day of joy became a sad day for us,” Hamza lamented.
Furthermore, the groom disclosed that his wife is till hospitalized but the doctors assured that there is still hope.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Kano state Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa has confirmed the arrest of two people in connection with the case adding that they would be charged to court.
Those arrested were identified as Yahaya and Salisu who are both vigilante members.
Reacting to the ugly incident, Kano state Commander of the Vigilante group, Shehu Rabiu disclosed that a committee has been set up to investigate to investige the matter.
