Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has dissolved Board of Directors of Ibom Icon Hotels.
He dissolved the Board to reposition the Hotels to meet world class standard.
Through a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Governmment Prince Enobong Uwah, the Governor directed their termination of appointment.
Also, in the release he warned that negotiations on a new management services agreement with the current managers of the Hotels is discontinued.
Moreover, he said the temporary structure in place is also terminated.
Meanwhile, the Governor has mandated the commissioner for culture and tourism Sir Charles Udoh, to oversee the affairs of the Hotels till further notice.
The release reads thus: “This is to notify the general public that the Government of Akwa Ibom State under the leadership of His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, is desirous of repositioning the Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resorts to meet world class standards and therefore directed that.”
“The Board of Directors of Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resorts Limited is dissolved forthwith.”
“That negotiations on a new management services agreement with the current managers of the Hotels is discontinued.”
“And the temporary structure in place is also terminated.”
That Hon. Commissioner for culture and tourism Sir Charles Udoh, will oversee the affairs of the Hotels till further notice.”
