The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has released video footage showcasing a daring operation by the Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 commando unit, in which they successfully retook the Sufa military post along the Gaza border from Palestinian terrorists.
The video, captured from head-mounted cameras worn by the soldiers, provides a gripping glimpse into the intense combat as they engaged with Hamas militants inside the base. During the operation, some terrorists were neutralized, while others were apprehended.
The most dramatic moment occurs when the Shayetet 13 commandos reach the base’s bunker, where surviving soldiers had sought refuge during the Hamas attack. An officer can be heard urgently shouting, “Shayetet, Shayetet, stay in the bunker, we’re coming,” emphasizing the relentless determination to rescue their comrades.
Additionally, the IDF reports that Shayetet 13 soldiers were also deployed in southern Israel on the same day, having been swiftly airlifted to counter Hamas’s invasion from the Gaza Strip.
Their actions resulted in the elimination of over 60 Palestinian terrorists in the Sufa post and several towns including Be’eri, Kfar Aza, Sa’ad, Mefalsim, and Nir Oz. Remarkably, approximately 250 hostages were rescued during these operations.
Furthermore, the IDF confirmed the capture of 26 terrorists, among them a high-ranking member of Hamas’s naval forces. This operation stands as a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of Shayetet 13, underscoring their critical role in safeguarding Israel’s security and responding decisively to threats along the Gaza border.
