Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the upcoming September 21 Edo State elections, received a warm reception during his visit to Ewhohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area on Wednesday. A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered as Ighodalo hosted key PDP leaders and community elders from Ewhohimi, Ewhossa, and Ewatto at his country home in Okaigben Quarters. The event marked the start of a full day of campaign activities across the local government area, where Ighodalo promised his supporters that both he and his deputy would make them proud if elected.

In his address, Hon. Peter Aguele, the immediate past executive chairman of the council, praised the party’s unity and urged continued dedication ahead of the election. “This last lap is crucial. We must all work together with the same unity to win this election,” Aguele emphasized. Present at the gathering were notable political figures, including former House of Representatives member Sir Prince Lewis Osobase, Commissioner for Finance Hon. Kalu Adaze, and former Auditor-General of the Federation, Chief Dr. Aghughu Adolphus.

Former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, accompanied Ighodalo on the campaign and addressed the crowd, urging them to seize the opportunity for development by voting for Ighodalo. “A governor from your community will bring numerous benefits. On election day, make sure to cast your vote and defend it,” Imoke stated.

Later, Ighodalo paid a courtesy visit to the Onojie of Ewatto Kingdom, HRH Osagie Ikhumwen I, where he received royal blessings. His visit to Esan South East continued with meetings in Ubiaja, where he promised support for widows and women groups, and in Ugboha, where another large crowd greeted him. Throughout the day, leaders and supporters echoed the call for unity and turnout on election day, while Ighodalo reassured the people that his administration would bring transformative development to their communities.
