Uromi, Edo State
In a vibrant and well-attended rally held in Uromi, Barrister Asue Ighodalo, alongside his running mate, Barrister Osarodion Ogie, captivated the audience with their impassioned addresses.
In his speech duly covered by Truth Live News and other reputable media houses, Barr Ighodalo asserted that Uromi is the political headquarters of Esan land and a gateway to the rich cultural legacy of the Esan people, and was grateful that they played host to an event that showcased the people’s undying loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ighodalo began by proudly reminding the crowd of Uromi’s esteemed status as the political headquarters of Esan land, a region renowned for producing national icons such as Chief Tony Anenih and former governor of Bendel State, Professor Ambrose Alli.
He emphasized that Uromi still stands as a beacon of greatness, producing formidable leaders and key influencers shaping the state’s political landscape. “This city has given Nigeria men of great honor and integrity. We are proud of our heritage, and I stand here today to say that Uromi still has great men ready to lead,” Ighodalo declared to thunderous applause.
Addressing the state of governance under Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ighodalo recalled how he and Osarodion were tasked with delivering on the campaign slogan, *”dem go do am,”* which translates to “they will do it.” He assured the people that under their leadership, every good initiative Governor Obaseki started, whether in education, infrastructure, or healthcare, would be brought to completion and improved upon. “Every school, every road, every hospital that Obaseki began will be taken to greater heights under our watch,” Ighodalo assured, his words resonating with hope and determination.
The atmosphere reached a fever pitch when Ighodalo boldly asserted that the PDP would serve as an “umbrella” to shield the people from the “rain of untold hardship” brought on by the ruling APC. This statement ignited cheers and chants from the crowd, as the frustrations with the current administration’s economic and social policies became a central theme of the rally.
“The PDP is here to protect you from the hardships inflicted by the APC. We will not only continue the good work of Governor Obaseki but will also ensure that no Edo citizen is left behind in our march toward progress.”
