The Edo State Government has denounced unsigned statements circulating on social media that claim to appoint certain individuals as aides in the Office of the Deputy Governor.
A press statement containing a list of purported appointees has been widely shared online.
In response, the Government in an official statement by Chris Osa Nehikhare, Hon. Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, stated that these claims are fake and urged the public to disregard them.
He explained that these actions are part of efforts by the impeached Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, to incite unrest in the state and raffirmed that Omobayo Marvellous Godwin remains the Deputy Governor of Edo State
The government urged the public to ignore the misleading activities orchestrated by Shaibu.
The statement reads in part, “It is clear that the impeached deputy governor is hell-bent on creating a sense of chaos in the state but the Edo State Government is resolved to put his antics in check and ensure that the state continues to run smoothly.
We restate that Omobayo Marvellous Godwins remains the Deputy Governor of Edo State and the public is enjoined to disregard the shenanigans orchestrated by Shaibu.
The government, once again, calls on citizens to rest assured that we will maintain peace and order as we charge them to go about their lawful businesses.”
