The Imo State Police command has confirmed the killing of his personnel by members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), at Old Gariki road, Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, in a statement, said that the officers were ambushed while on duty.

He said dynamite were used by the hoodlums to blow up the vehicles as they were engaged in a gun battle.

“The officers were ambushed in the early hours of today, 23/03/2024 while on patrol duties along old Gariki Road Okigwe by the disgruntled elements who threw dynamite on the officer’s patrol vehicle and engaged them in a protracted gunfight.

“In the process, two officers paid the ultimate price while four others survived the attack,” Okoye said.

The officers who were said to be personnel of Mopol 18, Owerri, were said to have been murdered by hoodlums suspected to be members of the ESN who bombed their operational vehicle early in the morning.
