Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has welcomed the new State Independent National Electoral Commission’s REC, Mr. Isah Shaka Ehimeakhe to the State.
The new Resident Electoral Commissioner paid a courtesy call on him, at Government House, Uyo.
Governor Eno has acknowledged the Commission’s record of conducting credible elections in the State.
Meanwhile, Pastor Eno has described the recent Supreme Court verdict on the March 18, 2023 guber election in the State as a collective victory and affirmation of INEC’s integrity.
He said: “We trust that you will continue to maintain a very neutral stand in your conduct as always.”
“For us as a people, we believe that the will of the people should always be respected, and people should vote their conscience in elections.”
In the conduct of elections, the governor had observed that elections in Akwa Ibom State have always been peaceful, fair and credible.
As part of his familiarization tour of the state, the new Akwa Ibom REC, Mr. Isah Shaka Ehimeakhe, thanked the Governor for the warm reception and said his visit was a courtesy call.
After he pledged the continuous determination of the Commission to to deepen democratic culture, he said he will uphold an inclusive electoral processes that will always reflect the will of the people.
