Isaac Idahosa, the 2023 vice presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), emphasizes that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and public officials must be held accountable for electoral failures.

Idahosa made this statement on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” program.

He stressed that the lack of consequences for subpar actions and inactions perpetuates misconduct.

“If individuals aren’t held accountable for their actions, they will continue to repeat their mistakes,” Idahosa said.

“This applies to INEC as well; without consequences, they will continue to fail.”

Idahosa also criticized the efficiency of INEC’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV) and Bimodal Voter Registration Systems (BVAS) during the 2023 general elections.

Many politicians questioned the effectiveness of these technologies, which INEC attributed to technical issues.

Furthermore, Idahosa lamented that some government officials have become more powerful than institutions, hindering effective governance.

“The system has been overrun by money politics,” he added
