The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has described as baseless and thrown out the petition filed by the Edo State APC, led by its state chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, to stop the PDP’s legal right to inspect the BVAS and other electoral materials used in the September 21 governorship election.
Recall Tenebe had filed baseless petitions allegeding that vehicles loaded with Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices from the Edo States government house were headed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Benin City.
Reacting to Tenebe’s baseless allegations on Friday, the INEC in a press statement issued by its Edo State REC Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, stated that it has carried out it investigations and found that Tenebe and the APC had filed a baseless petition just to delay the ongoing inspection of electoral materials by the PDP and other political parties.
The INEC went further to grant the PDP and other political parties permission to commence the inspection of all electoral materials including BVAS.
