Five people have been killed by some armed herders in a fresh attack on Anter community of Mbalagh Council Ward in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident was reported to have happened on Tuesday evening by the villagers who listed the names of the victims as, Ave Usaar, Temanenge Kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.
The locals further stated that only three bodies have been found and buried while the search for the remains of the other two was ongoing as at the time of filling this report.
The Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Security Matters, Lt. Col. Paul Hemba (retd), confirmed the death of two persons killed by armed herders to Daily Trust.
Hemba said, he had only received the reports of two persons killed in the community on Tuesday by armed herders, he is not aware of the killing of three other victims.
Police spokesperson for Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, said, she’s yet to receive report of the incident. “I have not received this report.”
