At least six soldiers including a lieutenant and five others are reportedly still ‘missing in action after an attack on the Joint Patrol team made up of troops of the 7 guards Battalion and 176 Battalion of Guards Brigade in Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT).
The team was said to have been on a patrol along the Bwari-Kubwa road before the attack by terrorists which led to the death of an Army Captain and the soldiers missing in action, a military source disclosed.
It was gathered that Captain Samuel Attah who was killed and Lieutenant Ibrahim Suleiman who is among those still missing in action both hail from Kogi State.
Similarly, those who sustained injuries during the ambush are receiving medical treatment at the military medical facility in Abuja while efforts are on to search for as well as rescue the officers who are still missing.
Meanwhile, Truthlive.net had reported that the Law School management had raised an alarm that the terrorists dropped a letter indicating its plan to launch an attack on the area.
According to Captain Abakpa, “It was when troops responded to the fears of the Law School and residents of the area, that the terrorists attacked the troops were already combing the vicinity in order to locate and flush out the terrorists.”
The deceased Captain, Samuel Attah is said to be the son of a retired Colonel in the Nigerian Army, Col Ahmodu Babanawa who hails from Ibaji/Okpo in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi state.
Following the attack, several Nigerians and well-wishers of the deceased family have been sending their condolence messages.
