No fewer than 15 farmers were on Saturday killed by bandits in communities around Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

Scores of people including women and girls were also abducted in the latest attack.

A leader in one of the communities who spoke in anonymity confirmed the attack.

According to him, the bandits have resumed attacks with full force in some villages in the local government noting that the situation is the worst ever experienced by the community.

He called on the state government and security agencies to come to their rescue as the community has been under siege by bandits in the last two weeks.

Similarly, Truth Live News gathered that the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa, confirmed the attack to Channels Television on Sunday.

Musa expressed worry that the bandits had resumed attacks in four local government councils of Rafi, Paikoro, Munya and Shiroro that form part of his constituency.

However, he said he is optimistic that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would soon deal with such challenges.

In the same vein, the State Police Public Relations Offiicer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the attack.

Although Abiodun could not ascertained the number of casualties, he assured that the police in conjunction with the military have been dispatched to Yakila, Tegina, Kagara, Pandogari, Kusherki and other villages to restore normalcy in the affected communities.
