Insecurity: Gunmen Abduct 18 ABC Transport Bus Passengers In Kogi

No fewer than 18 passengers of an ABC Transport travelling from the South East to Abuja have abducted by unknown Gunmen.

Security adviser to the Governor of Kogi, Retired Commodore Jerry Omodara, the confirmed the development to newsmen on Thursday.

According to him, the incident occurred on Sunday, March 16, when the bus, was hijacked by suspected kidnappers at Oloma in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi, near the Enugu State border.

Omodara reassured the public that a team of military, police, DSS, NSCDC, and vigilante groups in Kogi are working assiduously together to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

Furthermore, he revealed that the state’s security heads met twice on Wednesday to plan the operation to free the hostages.

“This strong collaboration, along with helpful information from the local community, is key to our efforts to capture the kidnappers and secure the release of the victims,” Omodara said.

“Kogi has seen a significant reduction in criminal activities and kidnappings due to cooperation between authorities and local residents.”

Also, Omodara also reassured the families of the kidnapped passengers that they would be safely released.

“We are dedicated to making Kogi a safe place for everyone, whether residents or visitors,” he said.
