Ikem, which is located in Enugu State, South East Nigeria, was reportedly the target of an assault on the Isi-Uzo Divisional police station, and the perpetrators allegedly stole weapons and ammunition.
The attack took at about three in the morning on Wednesday, according to SaharaReporters.
At approximately two in the morning, the thugs drove a minibus up to the police station that is situated along the federal highway that runs through Nsukka, Eha, Amufu, and Nkalagu. They were heard yelling things like “Release Nnamdi Kanu” and “No Nnamdi Kanu, no peace.”
“They entered through Eha-Amufu and exited through the same axis, but it’s not possible that they made it to the Eha-Amufu township or crossed to Nkalagu; had they done so, the soldiers in that area would have run into them.” “They came through Eha-Amufu and left through the same axis.” One of our sources told us that it’s conceivable that they travelled via Aguamede on their way to Benue State.
According to a security guard who was present at the station when the incident took place, the shooters fired shots in a sporadic manner for more than half an hour.
In addition, it was found out that a police officer who was working night shift at the police station was shot but did not pass away.
The divisional police station had been attacked by armed robbers, who were also responsible for the terrorising of banks at Ikem and Eha-Amufu, which led to the closure of banks in the area for more than ten years.
According to information obtained by Truth Live News, the Nkem divisional police station is the only one in the entirety of the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, with the closest one being located in Obollo-Afor, which is approximately 30 kilometres away.
After an armed robbery attack in which numerous police officers were killed, a divisional police station in the town of Eha-Amufu was shuttered as a result.
We were unable to get in touch with the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, despite our best efforts.
SaharaReporters was able to confirm the occurrence with a police source, who also stated that an inquiry had been launched to identify the individuals who were involved for the attack.
A source within the police department stated that they suspected the attackers originated from the state of Benue.
