Inter Milan and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have extended their congratulations to former Nigerian international Taribo West on his 50th birthday.
Inter conveyed their wishes on their official handle: “Many happy returns, Taribo! #ForzaInter.”
Meanwhile, UEFA posted a photo of Taribo in his Super Eagles jersey and his iconic hairstyle on their Champions League handle.
Taribo had a stint with Inter Milan from 1997 to 1999 before joining city rivals AC Milan in 2000. During his time with Inter, he secured the Europa League title in the 1997/98 season.
His football journey also included successful spells with Auxerre, where he won the Ligue 1 title in 1997, and stints with clubs like Obanta United, Sharks, Julius Berger (all in Nigeria), Derby County, Kaiserslautern, Partizan, Al Arabi, and Plymouth Argyle.
Taribo represented Nigeria at various levels, including the Flying Eagles in the 1993 U-20 AFCON and the U-23 Dream Team that clinched gold at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic games. He earned 42 caps for the Super Eagles and featured in two AFCONs and two FIFA World Cups before retiring from international football in 2005.
