Jidechukwu, son of the late Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has disclosed that his father developed heart complications after visiting Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja.
According to Jidechukwu, his father was made to walk for 20 minutes during the visit, which may have contributed to his heart illness.
Iwuanyanwu was rushed to the hospital, where he died on July 25, 2024, at the age of 82.
Even in his final days, Iwuanyanwu continued to advocate for Kanu’s release and the realization of the South East Development Commission.
His son, Jidechukwu, has now taken up the mantle, urging President Bola Tinubu to grant his father’s last wish and release Kanu.
Jidechukwu believes that Kanu’s release will bring peace to the South East zone and end the Monday sit-at-home protests.
He has called on the Federal Government to honor his father’s memory by granting his wish.
