In the wake of the devastating incident at Jattu market, which claimed several lives and left numerous others injured following a fierce storm, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming Edo election, paid a poignant visit to the scene today.
In a statement undersigned by Iyamah Nurudeen, the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council and made available to Truth Live News, the Chairman thanked Barr Ighodalo for his swift response and empathy to their unforeseen disaster.
Accompanied by Hon. Marvelous Muhizu Zibiri, the Executive Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Council, Dr. Ighodalo expressed profound sorrow over the losses and the extensive damage suffered at the market.
“I am deeply saddened by this tragic event. My heart goes out to all the families affected by this unfortunate incident,” Dr. Ighodalo stated during his visit.
The gubernatorial hopeful toured the hospitals where many of the injured victims were receiving treatment, offering his condolences and reassurances of support.
“We are committed to assisting the affected families in every possible way. We will cover all medical expenses for those still undergoing treatment,” Dr. Ighodalo affirmed.
The incident, which occurred during a violent storm that uprooted trees, resulted in a significant loss to the community and has prompted calls for enhanced safety measures in marketplaces across the region.
As investigations continue into the cause of the tragedy, Dr. Ighodalo’s visit was well received by the people for his dedication to the welfare of the people and his readiness to provide immediate assistance to those in distress.
