Southampton manager Ivan Juric has expressed optimism that Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu will soon find his scoring form and end the club’s goal drought.
Onuachu, who joined the Saints from KRC Genk in January 2023, has yet to score in 22 appearances across all competitions.
Juric, despite this slow start, believes the tall striker has the potential to make a significant impact.
Juric praised Onuachu’s performance in the 1-0 loss to West Ham United on Boxing Day, where he squandered several scoring opportunities.
The manager acknowledged that adapting to the English league can be challenging but is confident in Onuachu’s abilities.
“Onuachu has a proven track record of scoring goals in Belgium and Turkey.
“While it’s a different challenge in England, I believe he can adapt and make a significant contribution. His characteristics, such as holding up the ball and strong heading, will be valuable assets in certain games,” Juric said.
