Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano, has approved a N58.1 billion supplemental budget for the fiscal year 2023.
“This supplemental budget is meant to take care of the infrastructural development that were not captured by the 2023 budget, to meet the aspirations of the good people of Kano state,” stated the governor on Saturday in a statement provided by his chief press secretary, Malam Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Yusuf promised that his administration will closely adhere to the principles of fiscal restraint, stating that the funds appropriated would be used responsibly in an open and transparent manner.
Yusuf expressed gratitude to the planning and budget commissioner for his prompt work in preparing the budget document for the state assembly.
The governor asked for cooperation and a good working relationship between the legislative and executive branches, stating that improved government would result from a friendly connection.
The appropriations committee’s head, Jibrin Falgore, the Kano Speaker, brought the bill before the governor for his approval.
Before clearing it for the governor’s signature, the House had examined and discussed the executive bill, which is an estimate of the 2023 supplemental budget, according to Falgore.
