The Labour Party has vehemently opposed the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Court, which upheld Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election. Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, expressed the party’s discontent in Abuja following the court’s announcement.

Ifoh strongly stated that the Labour Party wholly rejects the judgment, contending that it failed to deliver justice and did not align with the law or the people’s wishes. He emphasized that the blatant electoral misconduct on February 25, 2023, was a global concern, yet the tribunal chose not to acknowledge it.

The party considers the essence of democracy to be at stake and pledged unwavering commitment to ensuring the will of the people prevails. The Labour Party commended its legal team for their resolute efforts in exposing systemic flaws.

Despite expressing sorrow for the state of democracy in Nigeria, the party remains determined not to abandon the country. Further details of their stance will be revealed after consulting with their lawyers once they obtain the Certified True Copy of the court’s judgment. They encouraged all democracy supporters to stay focused and hopeful, asserting that a renewed Nigeria is attainable.
