The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a striking ultimatum to the Federal Government, giving them seven days to reverse what they perceive as anti-poor policies. One of these policies includes the recent increase in the pump price of petrol. Failure to comply with the demands will result in an indefinite nationwide strike starting from August 2.

In response to this situation, the NLC has called upon all its affiliates and state councils to commence immediate mobilization of workers and other Nigerians, along with civil society allies, to prepare for a prolonged strike and mass protests if the government does not meet their demands.

Sources reveal that this decision was made during the NLC’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting, which took place on Tuesday, July 25, at the Abuja Labour House.
