Exciting developments are unfolding for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State as Chief Dan Orbih, the National Vice Chairman, South-South, has agreed to serve as a member of the State PDP Campaign Council.
With this significant decision, the PDP in Edo state is gearing up to conduct its campaigns with a united front and secure victory for the party’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming September governorship election.
Truth Live News reports that this decision was reached during the 586th National Working Committee Meeting of the party held on Tuesday, May 7, in Abuja.
The National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunnagba, made this development known in a statement posted on the party’s verified Twitter handle @OfficialPDPNig on Tuesday evening.
His words:
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its 586th meeting today, Tuesday May 7, 2024, extensively reviewed all issues concerning our Party in Edo State. The NWC enjoined all leaders, stakeholders, and teeming members of our Party in Edo State to, in the overall interest of the people and that of the PDP, close ranks and work together for the success of the Party in the forthcoming Governorship election in Edo State.
“At the meeting, the NWC considered the reaction and or statement credited to the National Vice Chairman (South South), Chief Dan Orbih on the membership of the Edo State Governorship Election Campaign Council.
“After a thorough review of the issues and in the spirit of unity and reconciliation, the National Vice Chairman (South South), despite his initial displeasure over the constitution of the Edo State Campaign Council, reconsidered and accepted his inclusion and membership of the Council.
“The NWC urges the people of Edo State to continue in their massive support and solidarity to our Party and Governorship Candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the September 21, 2024 Governorship Election in the State.”
Recall that Orbih initially expressed dissatisfaction and rejected his inclusion in the council, citing lack of prior consultation.
