The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Amina Arong as the new national women leader, succeeding Stella Effah-Attoe, who passed away in October 2023. The announcement was made through an official statement by PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba on Thursday.

Hailing from Cross River, Arong is described as a “prominent women mobiliser,” and the party expresses confidence in her ability to contribute significantly to national leadership. The statement highlights Arong’s intellectual capacity, wealth of experience, competence, and vigor in mobilizing women for the party at both state and national levels.

Truth Live News gathered that Arong, holding a diploma in banking and finance and a B.Sc. in accounting, is deemed well-equipped for her new role. The PDP urges her to collaborate with other members of the national working committee (NWC) to ensure the party’s ongoing stability, growth, and success.

The party acknowledges Arong’s enduring commitment to its growth, citing her pivotal roles in mobilizing women and youth groups and her contributions to the conduct of party primaries and congresses nationwide.

With optimism, the PDP looks forward to the positive impact Amina Arong will make during her tenure, aiming to continue the legacy left by her predecessor and contribute to the party’s overarching goals. The appointment signifies the party’s emphasis on experienced and capable leadership to steer its course in achieving stability and success.

Amina Arong’s appointment as the national women leader encapsulates the PDP’s commitment to inclusive leadership, sticking to their policy of replacing an officer with a fellow officer who contested the position in the same zone if deceased, incapacitated or sacked. The party remains hopeful for her positive contributions to the ongoing development and growth of the PDP.
