In a significant blow to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Garba Koko, representing Besse/Maiyama Yema federal constituency in Kebbi State, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This development was announced on Wednesday by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, via a letter read during the green chamber session.

Truth Live News gathered that Koko’s decision to leave the PDP was prompted by the prolonged crisis within the party. However, the minority leader, Kingsley Chinda, countered this claim, stating that there is no protracted crisis in the PDP.

Koko’s defection marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Kebbi State. As a representative of the Koko-Besse/Maiyama Federal Constituency, his move is expected to have implications for the state’s political dynamics.

This development comes amidst ongoing political realignments in Nigeria, with various lawmakers switching parties in recent times. The APC and PDP are two of the country’s major political parties, and Koko’s defection is seen as a significant gain for the APC.
