In a recent legal development, the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, has requested a seven-week extension to present 50 witnesses in court.
Obi, who is involved in an ongoing court case seeking to challenge the outcome of 2023 presidential candidate that produce Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-Elect, is requesting additional time to gather and prepare his witnesses for the proceedings.
The former Anambra governor’s legal team submitted the request to the presiding judge at the tribunal, citing the need for adequate time to compile a comprehensive list of witnesses and gather necessary evidence. The extension would allow them to prepare their case thoroughly and present a strong defense.
This was made known by the Labour Party’s spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, who shared the development on his verified Twitter handle.
Mr Okonkwo posted:.
“Labour Party and @PeterObi will require 7 weeks to give evidence in their case. They will present 50 witnesses to court who will testify for 30 minutes in court, excluding the time for any electronic demonstration of evidence. The Court will rule on it subsequently”
