A police officer has been killed in Ondo State following the invasion of Okuta Elerinla Police Division by gunmen.
The gunmen suspected to be bandits, killed a police officer after invading the Okuta Elerinla Police Divison in the early hours of Monday.
According to Daily Post report, the gunmen invaded the station and caught the officers on duty unaware on Monday around 1:00 am.
The mission of the gunmen have still not been ascertained, as investigations have begun on the case.
The gun battle between the Police and the gunmen claimed the life of a policeman identified as Boluwaji Temenu, with registration number AP. 207538.
SP Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, while confirming the attack, revealed that the police officers present at the station were able to repel the attack by the gunmen.
Odunlami added that the Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran have ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, to immediately take over the case.
